Los Romanes hosts 3 main festivals throughout the year.

During May is the Romerea, a procession takes a 4km scenic route to Lakeside with an abundance of refreshment and tasty morsels provided free of charge along the way. The 3 day event finishes at the Lakeside, with camping available, beer tent, barbeques and horse shows.
June brings another fiesta in the market square 100mtrs from Sol Senamor: flamenco music, dance and free food for all, provided by the local villagers. The huge feast is eaten amid music and festivity overlooking the wonderful Mountain range.
August
sees the biggest festival in Los Romanes, also at Market Square
with various
music and flamenco dancing. Massive pans of Paella are cooked in the street.
There are also many religious festivals and processions throughout the year.
Bring your clubs because plenty of GOLF COURSES are available nearby.
Two of the best are: BAVIERA GOLF (20 minutes drive away) a beautiful course with sea, mountain and countryside views.
ANORETA GOLF (25 minutes
drive away) just off the N340 motorway, a challenging course with tight fairways
and water hazards.
There
are excellent walks of all types nearby, including leisurely strolls around the
village and campo, or more strenuous walks in the nearby mountains. This region
is a National Park and you could be excused for mistaking the scenery as the
Alps!
One
particular walk along the ridges of Maroma is very rewarding… in summer time you
can take a swim in the Rio which cascades down the mountainside. It’s a walk
and swim you’ll remember forever!
Also on
the walk there is a campsite equipped with barbeques, bar/café and toilets
showers etc. Here you can see fantastic wildlife; bird watching is brilliant.
There are mountain goats, foxes etc. And a rarity in Spain:
long horned cows
grazing on the lush green pastures which surround the mountains.
For the
more adventurous person, this is a fantastic cycling area, either for
road bikes
or mountain biking….very rewarding if you are fit enough.
One particular ride from Sol Senamor, circular route on the road, takes you
around the Lake to Puente Don Manuel,
Periana, Mondron and back onto the main
road near
Rio Gordo and back to Los Romanes.
It’s about 40km, varied, and always interesting if slightly challenging….. there
are plenty of climbs uphill on this ride and exhilarating decent.
